A Beautiful Fall Day!

Greetings on this beautiful fall day! It was so hard to come in from recess. We could have stayed out there all afternoon. It was such a perfect weather day.

In Religion class today we talked about how John the Baptist prepared people for Jesus by telling them to love God and others. We also prayed the third decade of the Luminous Mysteries.

In Language Arts class we reviewed our oral vocabulary words. Then we used our sound boxes to segment short e words. After that we practiced reading short e words and words with the inflectional ending -ed. Next we practiced reading our sight words. Following that we partner read a story in our decodable reader. We finished the morning by reading and discussing The Red Hat, a realistic fiction story about a firefighter.

This afternoon in Language Arts, we completed pages in our close reading companion related to our story. We practiced identifying nouns in sentences. Finally, we took our writing from yesterday and added it to a fireman craft. We have to put the finishing touches on our firemen tomorrow.

For Gym today we headed back outside to enjoy the fall weather. It won't be long before our Gym classes are inside.

In Math class today we began our chapter on subtraction. We learned that subtraction means take away. The key for us is to be able to count backwards.

Have a great night!
