Greetings! Happy Wednesday! Today was another great day of learning in first grade!
In Religion class today we talked about how Jesus helped many people including those who were blind, deaf, and lame. We also prayed the third decade of the Sorrowful Mysteries.
In Language Arts class, we reviewed the oral vocabulary words we learned yesterday and learned three new words (collapsed, furious, and refused). We then worked on making predictions as we read "The Three Little Pigs". After that we used our letter tiles to spell and read short u words. Following that we learned contractions for is. We made a flipbook where we wrote the contraction and a sentence using the contraction. Next we practiced using our sight words in sentences. We ended our morning focused on reading. We reread Cubs in a Hut and wrote about the characters, setting, and plot. We also read our decodable reader and wrote about what the characters did in that story.
This afternoon in Language Arts we worked in our literacy centers. We also sorted nouns into singular and plural groupings.
For Gym class today we headed to the Gym. The rain kept us inside. Everyone was very excited to go to the Gym. Today we played "Alligator, Alligator". Everyone had fun.
In Math class today we solved subtraction problems using number bonds. We used linking cubes to show the number bond before writing a subtraction sentence.
Have a great night!
