Greetings! Happy October! It is hard to believe that we are already in the second month of the school year. I can tell you that the students are already looking forward to Halloween. They started talking about it yesterday.
We began our day by attending Eucharistic Adoration. We spent some quiet time in church praying to Jesus, asking him to help others and help us have a good day. When we returned to the classroom, we prayed the second decade of the Joyful Mysteries.
We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers. Then we jumped back into our week of learning. We reviewed our oral vocabulary words from yesterday and learned three new words (agree, difficult, and exhausted). We then worked on asking and answering questions as we read a fable about a rabbit and coyote. After that we practiced segmenting words into sounds using our sound boxes. Next, we used our letter tiles to spell and read r-blend and s-blend words. Following that we learned about possessives. Finally, we practiced using our sight words in sentences.
This afternoon we reread Move and Grin and wrote details from the story. Next, we read our decodable reader and answered questions about the details from that. Finally, we practiced completing sentences by identifying the missing word in a sentence.
In Math class today we continued to practice writing addition number sentences for a picture. Today, after writing the sentence, we came up with a story to go with it. They did great with this.
Just a reminder that tomorrow is Gym day!
