Greetings on this rainy, dreary Tuesday. I hope everyone was able to enjoy the day! The students enjoyed wearing their flip flops, slides, and sandals today as we remember that doing drugs make us flop.
We began our day by going to Adoration. We spent some quiet time talking with Jesus asking him to help those we know and asking him to help us have a good day.
We began Language Arts by working in our literacy centers before jumping back into our week of learning. We reviewed the oral vocabulary words we learned yesterday and then learned three new words (hibernate, tranquil, and tolerate). After that we worked on rereading as we read a story about animals in the desert. Following that we used our sound boxes to segment words. Next, we used our letter tiles to spell and read words with end blends. We ended the morning by learning about the inflectional ending -ing and using our sight words in sentences.
This afternoon in Language Arts we practiced using possessive nouns in sentences. We then reread The Best Spot and wrote about the main idea (topic) and details from the story. We ended our day by reading our decodable reader and doing the same thing.
In Math class today we continued to write subtraction sentences to solve a problem. We are able to look at a picture and do this. Tomorrow we will do this when given a written problem.
Just a reminder that tomorrow's theme for Red Ribbon Week is that Drugs are Old School. Students may dress in a past decade and wear jeans and sneakers to school!
