Watercolor Fun!

Greetings! Happy Friday! I hope everyone had a fantastic day. We sure did in first grade.

Today was a Faith Family Mass. During Mass, Fr. Brian encouraged us to to hold onto grudges but to take time now to fix things. We encouraged us to always be faithful followers of Jesus.

After Mass once we all came back from our Faith Families, we prayed the fifth decade of the Glorious Mysteries. Today also marked the end of us praying the rosary as a class. The children's rosaries came home today. They are encouraged to find a special spot to keep their rosary (they are blessed) and to continue to pray the rosary at home.

We wrapped up another week of learning in Language Arts. Today we used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read words with end blends and the inflectional ending -ing, and wrote sentences using our sight words. We took our weekly assessment and practiced writing possessive nouns.

In Math class today we reviewed solving word problems by writing a subtraction sentence. We also talked about fact families. Given a number bond, we are able to write two addition and two subtraction fact families. We will continue to practice this next week.

In Science class today we talked about habitats. We looked at the desert, forest, and ocean. We talked about the different plants and animals we find there.

Finally, it was time for Art. Today we made a spider web. To do this, we used our white crayon to draw it on white construction paper. We then used watercolor paints to paint over our drawing. The students really enjoyed painting with watercolors.

Have a fabulous weekend!
