Greetings on this fabulous Friday! Today was a great day to end our week.
For Mass today we sat with our Faith Families. During Mass we were reminded to always turn to God especially when we are having a bad day. After Mass, we prayed the fifth decade of the Luminous Mysteries in our classroom.
This morning we had a fire drill with the local fire companies. The students did very well exiting the building quickly and quietly. After the fire drill, the firemen stuck around to talk to the children about fire safety. They even practiced crawling low to avoid the smoke.
We wrapped up another week of learning in Language Arts. We used our oral vocabulary words in sentences, read short e words and words with the inflectional ending -ed. We wrote sentences using our sight words and took our weekly assessment.
To help us practice subtraction, we played SPLAT in Math class today. The students worked in pairs. One child put a some linking cubes on the desk while the other child counted them. Then, the first child took some away while the second child closed his/her eyes. Then, he/she had to guess how many were missing.
We wrapped up our study of animals in Science class. We reviewed the needs of animals, their different body coverings, and how parents care for their young.
Finally it was time for Art class. Today we made Halloween bats. The students accordion folded a circle and then cut it in half to create the wings. We glued them onto the body and added ears. We will be adding neon googly eyes on Tuesday (I forgot them at home). I'll post pictures then.
Enjoy your long weekend. See you on Tuesday!
