Greetings! Happy Monday! And welcome to Red Ribbon Week 2019. This year we will be sending the message that we are drug free. Today the students wore bow ties, hair ties, and tie-dyed shirts to remind us that drugs tie us up. We also received our red ribbons and talked about what we can do when we say no to drugs.
In Religion class today we wrapped up our chapter that focused on Jesus going out and helping and teaching others. We also prayed the first decade of the Glorious Mysteries.
We began Language Arts class by working in our literacy centers. We then started a new week of learning. We learned two new oral vocabulary words (habitat and depend). After that we worked on retelling as we read Babies in the Bayou. Following that we learned how to blend and read words with end blends (words that end in -st, -sk, -nd, -mp, -nt). We also learned our new sight words. We finished the morning by reading The Best Spot, a nonfiction story about animals in the forest.
This afternoon in Language Arts we reviewed possessive nouns. We also learned how to add details to a sentence.
In Penmanship this week we will focus on D and d.
In Math class today, we continued to practice subtraction. We can look at a picture and write a subtraction sentence.
Just a reminder that if students wear flip flops, slides, or sandals to school tomorrow, then they can wear jeans. This is to remind us that drugs are a flop!
Have a great night!
